LEED-EB Silver Certification – American Landmark Properties: One Park Place

Syracuse, NY, July 19, 2011 – One Park Place, a ten-story office building located in Syracuse, New York and managed by American Landmark Properties, has been awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance (LEED®-EB O+M) Silver Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). This certification recognizes that One Park Place has implemented continuous sustainability improvement measures guided by LEED-EB. Leonardo Academy was the LEED consultant for this project supporting this successful achievement.

“Achieving LEED-EB Silver certification for One Park Place was important to us because it reflects our firm commitment to investing in the future of the property and the Syracuse community,” said Mike Barney of Anderson Barney Management Group, which manages the building. “Increasing Energy Efficiency is critical to our management goals as we continue to seek ways to improve the working environments for all of our properties in a socially responsible manner. Ultimately, the tenants are the beneficiaries of these kinds of projects.”

One Park Place reached their goal of obtaining Silver Certification. This goal would not have been realized without tenant participation. The tenants were engaged in LEED efforts and provided documentation and tracking for several credits, allowing One Park Place the opportunity to reach Silver Certification.

Project Highlights:

• Installed flush valve diaphragms and aerators for a 37% reduction in water use, earning all five points and an exemplary performance point for WEc2: Additional Indoor Plumbing Fixture and Fitting Efficiency
• Earned all five points under WEc3: Water Efficient Landscaping for discontinuing the use of the irrigation system for flower beds
• Achieved an ENERGY STAR score of 84, making them eligible for the ENERGY STAR Label
• Implemented a Green Cleaning Policy and High Performance Cleaning Program, using Green Seal certified cleaning products and low impact cleaning equipment
• Earned an Innovation in Operations point for the existing Employee Wellness program, which includes a fitness room and fitness classes, smoking cessation classes, an annual health fair, periodic blood drives, and an onsite Weight Watchers program
