Contact: Call for Applications to Join the Standards Committee on Type III Life-Cycle Impact Profile Declarations Madison, WI, June 2, 2011 – Leonardo Academy, an accredited developer of American national standards, is pleased to announce three new openings on the Standards Committee for the Type III Life-Cycle Impact Profile Declarations for Materials, Products, Services and Systems. One opening each is currently available in the Producer, User, and Environmental interest categories. The committee is currently developing the standard, “Life Cycle Assessment Methodology Sufficient to Support Public Declarations and Claims.” This standard is intended to supplement international life-cycle assessment (LCA) standards to provide a robust basis for public environmental declarations, environmental performance ratings, environmentally preferable product (EPP) claims and environmental sustainability claims. Among its intended users are companies, policymakers, institutions, climate registries, environmental organizations and other stakeholders in a wide range of industry sectors. The standard is being developed under the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) process, as facilitated by the Leonardo Academy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing sustainability and environmental stewardship. The ANSI process stresses multi-stakeholder participation and transparency.
