Message From the President
Michael Arny, President
We are off to a great start in 2012!
The National Sustainable Agriculture Standard subcommittees are working diligently to complete the Draft Standard for Sustainable Agriculture for committee review and discussion at the annual Standards Committee Meeting this April
24-25 in Washington, DC. This significant milestone represents years of hard work and perseverance by the members of the standards committee and subcommittees who all participate on a volunteer basis.
Leonardo Academy's Sustainable Transportation Program was awarded a $900,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency's National Clean Diesel Funding Assistance Program to help reduce emissions from vehicles with diesel engines throughout Texas, Louisiana and Missouri. It is estimated that these projects will reduce over 16,000 tons of carbon dioxide and 3,400 tons of nitrogen oxides. For the last two years we have received similar grants from the EPA for projects in Wisconsin and Illinois, so we are excited about the prospect of expanding this far-reaching program across the nation.
