Many resources are available to help commercial and institutional
building managers increase energy efficiency. Selected resources are listed
below.
US Green
Building Council (USGBC) is a balanced, consensus coalition representing the
entire building industry that promotes the design, construction and operation of buildings
that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live and work.
The USGBC
has developed LEED: the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building
Rating System. LEED is a leading-edge system for designing, constructing and certifying
the worlds best buildings, offering technical assistance, and accrediting LEED

ENERGYSTAR®
is a voluntary partnership between U.S. organizations
and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of
Energy (DOE) to promote energy efficiency in
buildings. ENERGYSTAR® recognizes buildings that have an overall energy performance among
the top 25 percent of all similar-use buildings nationally. Call the toll-free
